Our Mission

Our goal here at American Friends of Tzadikim is to help raise money to ensure that our fellow Jewish brothers who dedicate their lives to learning have the support they need to feed their families. Kollel students are not as privileged to have government funding and programs. Therefore, it is up to us to support Jewish learning by helping them continue their studies, as it is in our merit as well. According to Torah sayings, giving charity for Kollel students benefits the giver more than the taker. "And one that it is impossible for him to learn because he does not know how to at all or because of troubles that he has, should support others who study. Haga'h: And it will be considered for him as if he learned himself (Tur). And a person is able to make a condition with his friend, that he will study Torah and he will support him, and he will split the reward with him. But if he already toiled in Torah, he is unable to sell him his portion for the money he will give to him.” Please consider donating to Tzadikim to help fulfill this important mission.

שחייב כל אדם בתלמוד תורה והיאך לומדים בשכר. ובו כ״ו סעיפים: כל איש ישראל חייב בתלמוד תורה בין עני בין עשיר בין שלם בגופו בין בעל יסורים בין בחור בין זקן גדול, אפילו עני המחזר על הפתחים, אפילו בעל אשה ובנים, חייב לקבוע לו זמן לתלמוד תורה ביום ובלילה, שנאמר והגית בו יומם ולילה. (ובשעת הדחק, אפילו לא קרא רק ק״ש שחרית וערבית, לא ימושו מפיך קרינן ביה) (הגהות מיימוני פ״א וסמ״ג עשין י״ב). ומי שאינו יכול ללמוד מפני שאינו יודע כלל או מפני הטרדות שיש לו, יכול לתמוך אחרים הלומדים, ובכך יחשב לו כאילו לומד בעצמו (טור). אדם יכול להתנות עם חבירו שהוא יעסוק בתורה והוא ימציא לו פרנסה, ובשיתוף בשכר זה, הוא למעשה תומך בלימוד התורה. חשוב לזכור שגם תרומה לסטודנטים בכולל מהווה דרך מצוינת לתמוך בלימוד תורה. אך אם כבר עסק בתורה, אינו יכול למכור לו חלקו בשביל ממון שיתן לו (תא״ו נתיב ב׳ מש״ס דסוטה).
